GFC MSU Sealant Day – Saturday 3/23
Posted Date: 03/21/2013
The Great Falls College MSU Dental Assistant students coordinated a Sealant Day to be held on March 23 from 10 am to 3 pm in the GFC MSU Dental Clinic. Dental Assistant and Dental Hygiene students, with the help of local dentists, are screening children ages 5-17 for dental sealants. The students will place dental sealants and fluoride varnish for qualifying children. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian - limited to 2 children per guardian, 4 children per household. This event is free and open to the public thanks to the many volunteers and donations. A "fun room" will also be available for the children.
Robin Williams, Dental Assistant Program Director, stated "Sealant Day is a great community service that also provides the opportunity for students in both our dental programs to work side-by-side with members of the local dental community." Community service learning, like this project, is integrated into both the dental assisting and dental hygiene programs to enrich the students learning experiences, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities.
