Position: Controller
Salary: $50,000-60,000/year, depending upon qualifications and experience

Great Falls College MSU is seeking a Controller to oversee the operations of the Business Office and Auxiliary Operations of the College, including supervision of department staff. This position is primarily responsible for the internal controls over all accounting functions and reporting and works under general supervision of the Associate Dean for Administration and Finance/Chief Financial Officer (CFO). May act as CFO as necessary.

Specific responsibilities for this position include:
Manage the financial systems for the College

Oversee financial reporting. 

Monitor and manage cash and investments.

Coordinates and works with a variety of internal and external departments and individuals to complete work

Direct the auxiliary services for the College to include the Bookstore/Cafeteria

Oversee risk management issues of the College including insurance procurement, and participation on the State Risk Management Committee.

Provides training and end-user support for financial processes


Must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Certified Public Accountant, plus three (3) years demonstrated performance in a senior fiscal management position-OR-
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Business Administration or directly related plus four (4) years demonstrated performance in a fiscal management position-OR-
  • Master's degree in Accounting; Business Administration or related and two (2) years in a senior fiscal management position.


  • Demonstrated experience in accounting and finance;
  • Experience in supervising, evaluating and mentoring staff;
  • Knowledge of and experience in higher education accounting functions;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in accounting policy and procedures, and state and federal laws governing


  • Demonstrated skill in written and oral communications;
  • Demonstrated ability to extract data from enterprise systems;
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems, deal with issues and concerns in a positive and constructive manner; and
  • Demonstrated skill in providing customer service to faculty, staff, students, and community members.
