Associate of Applied Science (AAS)
A Dental Hygienist is a licensed professional member of the healthcare team who integrates the roles of educator, consumer advocate, practitioner, manager, and researcher to support total health through the promotion of oral health and wellness.
Dental hygienists clean teeth and examine oral areas, head, and neck for signs of oral disease. They educate patients on oral hygiene, take and develop x-rays, and apply fluoride or sealants.
