Purpose

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team is a volunteer group of faculty and staff working to identify diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) needs and make recommendations on institution-wide initiatives through input from students, faculty, and staff to the Executive Council. The team serves to observe campus climate, identify gaps, and recommend or initiate programs and processes in coordination with campus leader ship to promote a campus culture of DEI for all students and employees.

Committee Responsibilities

  • Identify gaps on campus and recommend professional training topics/speaker workshops to the following groups where appropriate: HR/Professional Development through Teaching Learning Center /Student Engagement.

  • Facilitate the opportunity for faculty, staff and students to provide insights into barriers hindering success and serve as a group that committee members and campus stakeholders can bring up and discuss DEI topics across campus

  • Solicit feedback on DEI issues from campus in various forms, e.g., the virtual suggestion box

  • In partnership with Institutional Effectiveness office, identify and define the equity gap categories to track and assist in developing a college-wide, systematic, annual review of specific student type enrollment data 

Membership

  • Faculty (2-4) Term limit of 2 years.
  • Student Services (2-3) The representatives from these areas will rotate as deemed necessary by the directors of the respective areas.
  • Marketing & Communications (1) This representative may rotate as deemed necessary by the department director.
  • Chair – Term limit 2 years.
