Students learn about career options at L.I.F.E. Pathway Event

GREAT FALLS — On Thursday, October 12, students from northcentral Montana high schools and middle schools will converge on the Montana ExpoPark for a day of hands-on activities as part of a new Pathway for Your L.I.F.E. event, hosted by Great Falls College MSU.

This event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will allow students to learn about a variety of career options by participating in hands-on activities. L.I.FE. stands for learn, interact, formulate and educate. The goal is for students to learn about many different career pathways, interact with people who work in those pathways, formulate a plan about how students can think about their future, and educate their family members about what they experienced.

“This is a great opportunity for students to see the many different pathways that exist within career clusters,” said Shannon Marr, Montana Career Pathways Coordinator for Great Falls College MSU. “Students in this age range (8th grade through 12th grade) often learn best by actively experiencing their options.”

  • Industries represented include:
  • construction and manufacturing
  • finance and business
  • arts, communication, technology and marketing
  • hospitality and tourism
  • education, human services, law and public safety
  • transportation and distribution
  • allied health
  • natural resources and agriculture

Students can register for the L.I.F.E. Event by contacting their school’s counseling office.

The event is held as a partnership between Great Falls College MSU, Great Falls Public Schools, and United Way of Cascade County.
