Purpose

The purpose of the Perkins Committee is to prioritize Perkins projects to ensure educational initiatives align closely with community and program needs, as identified through the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA). This involves evaluating project proposals based on their potential impact on workforce development, student outcomes and responsiveness to local economic demands.

Areas of responsibility

  • Coordinate and review Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA)
  • Review and score Perkins requests
  • Recommend Perkins allocations and reallocations (when applicable) based on community needs and input
  • Provide updates to College Council regarding the launching of the proposal application, project proposal rankings, and a wrap-up of the academic year.
  • Update and monitor committee webpage.

  • CTE Program Director or faculty
  • Reporting and Grants Coordinator
  • Staff or faculty (2)

Term Limits

The Controller, Director of Career and Technical Education, Dual Enrollment Coordinator, and the Reporting and Grants Coordinator are permanent members due to their positions. Other members are asked to commit to 3 years with renewing as an option.

Time: As needed per Perkins guidelines. We typically meet once in the fall semester and twice in the spring semester to review proposals, follow-up meetings are scheduled as needed.
