GREAT FALLS – Great Falls College MSU will host a solo recital and masterclass with Dr. Carmen Lemoine, Assistant Flute Professor from Wichita State University, on Friday, Sept. 29.
Lemoine is touring across Montana with the Montana Flute Association, offering masterclasses, workshops and mini recitals.
“This annual tour gives aspiring, young flutists the opportunity to hear, work and perform with guest artists from around the country,” said Norman Gonzales, president of the Montana Flute Association. “Musicians of all abilities are invited to come hear her share personal stories and learn new ways of approaching their own musical journey.”
On Sept. 29, Lemoine will perform a solo recital at 4 p.m., followed by a masterclass at 4:30 p.m. Both events are in Heritage Hall at Great Falls College MSU, 2100 16th Ave. S.
“A masterclass is an opportunity for a master performer or master teacher to interact with students,” said Cynthia Stevens, department chair of Fine Arts and Humanities at GFC MSU.
Students will play a piece and Lemoine will offer a critique and suggestions.

Participants will have 20 minutes to work with Lemoine. Admission is free for those wishing to watch the recital or masterclass, and they do not need to register ahead of time.
Lemoine has a bachelor’s and doctoral degree in flute performance from the Eastman School of Music. Her master’s degree is from San Francisco Conservatory. She holds positions with the Wichita, Santa Rosa, Marin and Santa Cruz symphonies, performs frequently with the Louisville Orchestra and recently appeared as guest principal flute with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra in New Zealand.
