How to Support Great Falls College

Your gift opens doors for students who are ready to work hard and move forward.

When you give to Great Falls College, you’re investing in students, strengthening our community and shaping Montana’s workforce. You can make your impact through a Named Fund, an Endowed Fund or a Planned Gift. Choose the path that fits how you want to help students succeed.

You can establish a named fund to support scholarships, facility updates, childcare assistance or the greatest need. Scholarships may be non‑endowed or endowed, and you can review the scholarship criteria and selection process anytime.

An endowed fund provides long‑term support by using only the interest earned each year. You can start a new endowment with a $25,000 pledge or contribute to an existing one. Endowments may be funded through a one‑time gift, multi‑year pledge or planned giving.

Planned giving helps you meet your financial and estate goals while supporting future students. You may be able to:

  • Reduce income taxes
  • Avoid capital gains
  • Increase spendable income
  • Receive lifetime payments
  • Earn permanent recognition on our donor wall

Ask us about options involving retirement plans, trusts and estate‑tax benefits.

Kaia Ecklund, student

Receiving the scholarship allowed me to spend more time focusing on school and reduced some stress related to the expenses associated with college. This has also allowed me to be involved with a number of projects around the school and embrace being a River Otter.”

What to Support

For more than half a century, Great Falls College has been delivering on the promise of helping inspired students go to college and start meaningful careers. Each day, we work to advance our mission to provide high-quality educational experiences, support student success and meet the needs of our community.

You can help us accomplish this through four main areas of support.

Help Students Start and Finish Strong

Non‑Endowed: Start a named fund with $5,000. Awards continue until funds are used. Endowed: Create a permanent fund with $25,000 (one‑time or over five years). Existing Scholarships: Give any amount to a current fund or to the greatest student need.

Give students the resources they need to thrive in areas such as:

Fuel new ideas in the classroom.

Each year, full-time and part-time faculty at Great Falls College may apply for a Faculty Innovation Grant. The funds to support these innovative practices come from our generous donors. Although the college strives to give at least $1,000 a year toward the award, a donor may give more or less than this amount. The selection process ties strongly to student learning that is supported by research and best practices in teaching and learning.

Support the college where help is needed most.

Your gift gives the college the flexibility to respond quickly to urgent needs and emerging opportunities.

You can make a meaningful gift through assets you already own.

Great Falls College accepts certain non‑cash gifts, including vehicles, real estate, stocks, bonds and mutual funds. These gifts may offer tax advantages such as fair‑market‑value deductions and avoidance of capital gains. Contact the CEO/Dean to confirm eligibility.

You can support students and reduce your taxable income.

You may give up to $105,000 per year directly from your IRA to Great Falls College without paying income tax on the transfer. This can help satisfy required minimum distributions while supporting students.

Scholarships have greatly helped with my success in the dental hygiene program. They have reduced some financial stress and allowed me to put money towards other expenses associated with the program like boards, instrument kits or loupes.
