Flagger Certification

To become a certified flagger in Montana, you must complete a flagger training program. You must be at least 18 years old and have a valid state ID or driver’s license to take the one-day class.

  • The one-day class runs once a month in March
  • Includes training for Low Pressure Steam Boilers and 3rd Class Boiler Operator certification.
  • The class typically runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Cost is typically $99

The course will cover the following topics:

  • The five parts of a traffic control work zone
  • Flagging duties and responsibilities
  • Proper flagging techniques
  • Use of signaling devices, such as flags, signs and paddles
