GREAT FALLS – Great Falls College MSU, Crimestoppers and the Cascade County Human Trafficking Task Force will host an informational session focusing on human trafficking in Montana and Cascade County.
The Human Trafficking Forum will be Oct. 24 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Heritage Hall at Great Falls College MSU, 2100 16th Ave. S.
The event will include a presentation by Dr. Cherie McKeever, co-chair of the Cascade County Human Trafficking Task Force, followed by a panel discussion with representatives from law enforcement, health care and victim support organizations.
“Many people don’t realize what a huge problem human trafficking is in our state and even in our local community,” McKeever said. “This event will specifically address the human trafficking we’re seeing in Montana and even more specifically in Cascade County.”
Although exact numbers are difficult to determine, Montana has been ranked as high as fourth in the nation for human trafficking cases based on estimates at the Annual McGuire Conference held each year in Billings.
“This is a bigger problem than many people realize, and we want to bring as much attention to this issue as possible,” McKeever said.
The Human Trafficking Forum is free and open to the public.
