GFC MSU Pharmacy Technician Program recognized in top 10 nationwide

GREAT FALLS – Great Falls College MSU’s pharmacy technician program has been named one of the top 10 online pharmacy technician programs in the country by BestColleges.com.

BestColleges.com creates user-friendly guides and rankings with the goal of helping students find the school that best meets their needs.

“It’s exciting to be recognized as one of the top programs out there,” said Pamela Christianson, Pharmacy Technician Program Director at GFC MSU. “We pride ourselves on the strong program we offer here, and it’s great to have that recognized on a national level.”

GFC MSU’s pharmacy technician program is two semesters. Classes are taken online. Students also complete an on-site clinical in both a retail and hospital pharmacy. Students can complete the program from anywhere and do the clinical where they live.

Pharmacy technicians work alongside pharmacists in retail and hospital pharmacies. They perform customer service, bookkeeping and inventory management.

“Pharmacy technicians are in high demand,” Christianson said. “We are so short on trained pharmacy technicians in the field.”

In Cascade County, pharmacy technicians earn a median wage of $15.75 an hour.

BestColleges.com ranks program based on academic strengths, student learning outcomes, course offerings and the virtual classroom experience for online learners.
