Sonography uses sound to “see” inside the human body by directing high-frequency sound waves toward specific areas using specialized equipment. Many sonographers choose to specialize in particular fields such as obstetrics/gynecology, abdominal imaging, cardiac sonography, or vascular technology.
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is a City College MSU-Billings degree. However, you can complete the prerequisite courses through Great Falls College and then apply to the competitive entry sonography program through City College.
If accepted, this program offers a hybrid format with classroom instruction delivered online through recorded lectures, virtual meetings and digital assignments. The program also includes required on-campus labs in Billings and clinical rotations at approved medical facilities.
Successful completion of the program leads to an associate of applied science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and eligibility to sit for the national registry exams offered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
