Great Falls College paramedic program extends priority application deadline

The application deadline has been extended to 5 p.m. on June 19 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Great Falls College is extending its priority paramedic application deadline to 5 p.m. on June 19 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We know that current conditions have caused some prospective students to put off decisions until more is known about the future, so we want to be respectful of that," program director Joel Henderson said. "We also know that Montanans have done amazing work flattening the curve and are so excited as Great Falls College is beginning a gradual return to campus for summer and fall semesters."

The paramedic program still will accept applications after June 19, but those who apply by that date will receive priority placement.

The paramedic program is offered as a hybrid option, meaning students from all over the state learn the classroom material with online instruction and travel to Great Falls College's campus one day a week for in-person labs.

Those completing the program in 2020 hail from places such as Helena, Livingston and Great Falls.

However, if conditions change and face-to-face instruction is not always possible in the fall semester, this past semester's students were able to complete the program with remote learning, so the college will be able to assist you in completing the program regardless of what the fall brings, Henderson said

The Great Falls College MSU paramedic program is nationally accredited. Most of prerequisites can be completed online. Upon completion of the paramedic program, students will be prepared to sit for the National Registry Certification Examination to gain licensure and begin a successful career as a top-level pre-hospital care provider.
