No Smile Left Behind & Community Health Fair

“We hope that by providing free dental services, we can help those who may not have had access to these services otherwise,” said Robin Williams, Director of the dental assisting program.

GREAT FALLS - Great Falls College MSU's Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting students, as well as numerous community health organizations, are hosting the fifth annual No smile Left Behind Community Dental Day and Health Fair on Saturday, February 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event is a partnership between Great Falls College MSU and the Healthy Lives, Vibrant Futures Initiative.

The Community Dental Day and Health Fair will consist of free teeth cleanings, extractions and educational health booths. Teeth cleanings will be available to both adults and children. Extractions will be available only to adults and performed by local volunteer dentists.

"We hope that by providing free dental services, we can help those who may not have had access to these services otherwise," said Robin Williams, director of the dental assisting program at GFC MSU. "In addition to serving the community, the event provides an opportunity for dental assisting and hygiene students to gain hands on experience with patients."

The free health fair, hosted by partners from Healthy Lives, Vibrant Futures will include interactive and preventative healthcare vendors. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), seven out of 10 U.S. deaths are caused by chronic disease, while roughly half of the country's population has been diagnosed with a chronic illness classified by the medical community as preventable. Preventive health screenings and primary care consultations have also been found to significantly increase life expectancy. The health fair runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and provides access to information for those looking to learn about options available to them to receive care.

No Smile Left Behind Community Dental Day and Health Fair is free and open to the public. There will be no scheduled appointments as it is held on a first-come, first-served basis. Last walk-ins will be taken at 2:30 p.m.
